The system for welding fan discs to covers or housings of torsional vibration dampers was designed for precise and economical welding processes in series production. The machine shown here enables the reliable welding of components with a maximum welding diameter of 400 mm and a maximum workpiece weight of 60 kg. Sheet thicknesses of up to 1 mm can be reliably processed.

Welding is performed in an axial direction, ensuring consistent and reproducible weld quality. Both manual operation and integration into automated production lines with robot connectivity are possible. This allows the system to be flexibly adapted to different production requirements.

For high productivity, the machine is equipped with a rotary table. While one workpiece is being welded, the next component can be inserted simultaneously, minimizing idle time and significantly reducing cycle times.

The NC-controlled axis mechanism with precise ball screw drives ensures accurate positioning and high process stability. The travel distances are approximately 500 mm in the X-axis and approximately 250 mm in the Z-axis. The CW axis has a travel of 360° and reaches speeds of up to 333 rpm. The adjustable force range on the CW axis, from 500 to 4000 N, allows for optimal adaptation of the welding process to various component designs, enabling flexible and efficient processing.

Additionally, the system features inline weld monitoring, which directly monitors the weld penetration depth during the welding process. Furthermore, the component type is determined by reading a Data Matrix code from the production documents using a handheld reader. A code on the components stores the process data recorded during welding.
