Combined system for laser welding and hardening

Laser welding hardening cell

Several months ago, ARNOLD RAVENSBURG built a special machine for Laser welding and hardening to a renowned industrial customer. The processes and clamping technology have been successfully used in production ever since. The compact laser welding and hardening cell houses a wealth of functions, and the system was developed and manufactured entirely in-house. We are delighted that our customer has been able to produce successfully practically from the start of delivery.

Using the laser tool, components could be manufactured with greater precision and, thanks to the hardening process, with increased wear resistance than with previous methods.
The workpieces are currently still loaded manually. Automated loading with a robot can be retrofitted with little effort.
Within the compactly designed machining cell, complex process sequences are possible thanks to various integrated components.

With two linear NC axes, a swivel axis for moving the optics as well as a linear NC axis and a rotary axis for moving the workpiece, the machine has a total of 5 NC axes and can therefore machine 3D freeform surfaces.
An IPG wobble optic, which can weld smaller gaps or map contours using scanner mirrors, as well as an IPG deep welding sensor, a wire welding head developed by Arnold and pneumatic clamping devices designed in-house form the basis for the welding and hardening processes.

Summary

  • XYZBA NC axes – for machining complex free-form geometries
  • WOBBLE OPTICS – fast, high-quality creation of contours (circles, lines)
  • SIEMENS “TEACH-IN” function
  • CROSSHAIR CAMERA: Set up parts or contour corrections
  • PYROMETER: Monitoring of laser hardening processes
  • CLAMPING TECHNOLOGY: exact and reproducible workpiece position
  • Wire feed for seam geometries with larger gaps
  • LDD-700 Weld Monitor (IPG): Monitoring of laser welding processes and welding depth
